You keep up with everything. Work, family, relationships, responsibilities. From the outside, you look fine. Capable, even.

But inside, your brain never really stops. You’re overthinking decisions you already made, replaying conversations, waiting for the next thing to go wrong. And sometimes, after holding it together all day, you snap at the people you love most and then spend the rest of the night feeling terrible about it.

This is what high-functioning anxiety looks like. Not falling apart. Not unable to cope. Just constantly, exhaustingly on.

You’ve probably told yourself you just need to manage your time better, worry less, be more grateful, or push through. But you’ve been pushing through for a long time, and it’s not getting easier. It’s getting quieter in a way that feels more like emptiness than peace. That’s burnout. And it’s telling you something important.

Why it hides

Why High-Functioning Anxiety Is So Hard to Recognize

High-functioning anxiety is tricky because it often masquerades as ambition, responsibility, and dedication. You’re productive, you show up, you get things done. Nobody looking at your life from the outside would guess how loud it is in your head.

That’s exactly why it often goes untreated for so long. You don’t feel like things are bad enough to get help. You’re not falling apart. You’re just tired, and tense, and never quite able to exhale.

But anxiety doesn’t have to be debilitating to deserve attention. The constant overthinking, the emotional reactivity, the inability to be fully present because your mind is always somewhere else, these things affect your relationships, your health, and your quality of life. And they don’t have to be permanent.

Burnout tends to follow when anxiety goes unaddressed for too long. The body and mind eventually stop being able to sustain the pace. What started as stress starts to feel like emptiness. The drive disappears. The things that used to matter stop feeling meaningful.

That’s not weakness. That’s your nervous system asking for something different.

You Might Be Here Because You Are...

  • A mom who is balancing more than feels humanly possible and starting to crack under the weight of it, even though nobody else can tell.
  • A professional woman who has built a career and a life she's proud of, but privately wonders why she can't just feel okay.
  • A woman who has been strong for everyone around her for so long that she has forgotten what it feels like to not be the one holding everything together.
  • A mother who loves her kids fiercely but finds herself losing patience more than she wants to, snapping, withdrawing, running on a fuse that keeps getting shorter.

Whoever you are, if anxiety and burnout are running your life in the background, this is a space for you.

How I help

What Anxiety Therapy Looks Like With Me

We’ll start where you are. Not with a formula or a protocol, but with an honest conversation about what’s going on and what you actually want to feel different.

From there, we’ll work together to understand the patterns underneath your anxiety. Where does it come from? What is it trying to protect you from? What keeps it running even when things are objectively okay? Understanding the why is the first step to changing the how.

I’ll also help you build practical tools you can use in real life, not just in the therapy room. Ways to interrupt the overthinking cycle before it takes over. Ways to respond instead of react when your nervous system is activated. Ways to create enough breathing room that you can actually feel present in your own life.

I take an integrative, person-centered approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) alongside other relational and evidence-based methods. Some sessions will be skills-focused. Others will go deeper into what’s driving the anxiety. We’ll find the rhythm that works for you.

Virtual sessions are $150. In-person sessions are $180. I also accept Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Optum/United Healthcare through Alma for virtual sessions. Superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.

If motherhood is part of what’s driving the overwhelm, my Motherhood & Identity page may also resonate, and if anxiety showed up during pregnancy or postpartum, see Pregnancy & Postpartum Anxiety. Sessions are available virtually anywhere in Florida.
